Alanna Acchione is a Media Studies PhD Student in the Faculty of Information and Media Sciences at Western University. Her research focuses on the pervasive role of algorithmic systems in day-to-day life, investigating their influence and amplification of radical ideologies in society. Her current work includes ongoing studies of journalistic coverage of right-wing political movements in Canada in the face of online disinformation campaigns, affordances and limitations of activism in online spaces, and approaches to AI governance.
