Canada’s First Glass Room: A Critical Tech Intervention
Oct. 2 – 20, 2024, Satellite Project Space London ON
London Ontario will host Canada’s first Glass Room at Satellite Project Space from Oct. 2 to 20, 2024. The Glass Room is a public intervention that provides an interactive way for people to investigate the social impacts of technology like Artificial Intelligence and explore practical solutions to mitigate these impacts.
The Glass Room was developed by Tactical Tech, a creative international non-profit based in Berlin with two decades of experience dedicated to exploring the profound impact of technology on our lives. The exhibition is an enormous success, since 2016 it has been hosted in 71 countries with more than 500,000 people taking part.
The Glass Room is opening in London as part of the launch of the Starling Centre for just technologies and just societies, based in the Faculty of Information and Media Studies at Western University. The exhibition aligns with Starling Centre goals, given its aim to demystify technology and empower those who visit with information they can use to take immediate and longer-term actions to gain more control over their relationships to technology.
Tactical Tech Senior Project Coordinator Louise M. Hisayasu will open the Glass Room London at the Starling Centre launch, providing an overview of Tactical Tech’s critical digital literacy goals and collaborations.
